There has been a lot of news lately surrounding the technology sector, and in Detroit specifically.
Companies have been putting increased resources into keeping up with ever-changing technology trends not only to stay relevant but also to get ahead of their competitors, which means there is a greatly increased need for employees in the tech field.

Detroit: The Next Tech Hub
Within the last few years, many technology companies have been moving into the Motor City. Twitter just opened a sales office in the Madison Building this past April, Google has had two Detroit-area offices (in Birmingham and Ann Arbor) since 2007, and Pandora Media (of internet radio fame) has also opened an office in the area to service automotive clients.
There are also many new technology start-ups putting roots down in Detroit. These include all the projects supported by the Detroit Venture Partners (DVP), currently investing in over 30 Detroit start-ups in the technology, social media, and software development sectors, several of which also inhabit the Madison Building.
Much of the growth is due to two things. During the recession a few years ago, Detroit was hit very hard, much harder than the rest of the United States, which has inspired rebuilding and revitalization efforts that much more. And of course, Detroit is also the automotive hub of the world, which has begun to invest in projects such as mobile software, internet marketing, and cloud computing, opening tons of technology jobs in the area.
There is so much growth in Detroit that the US Patent and Trademark Office recently announced plans to open its first satellite office in the city to service the high number of patent filings from the area.
To encourage talent to come work in the great city of Detroit, Quicken Loans, DVP, and other Detroit companies recently pushed an initiative to get former Yahoo employees to come to Detroit in response to the company’s announcement of laying off over 2,000 employees.
